Aging Population in Indonesia

“Aging Population in Indonesia” highlights the growing number of elderly people, which brings significant implications for the economy, healthcare, and social policy. As life expectancy increases, Indonesia faces challenges in providing services and financing elderly care.
The findings from the “Survey on Elderly Care Cost in Yogyakarta” reinforce the urgency of this issue. The survey shows that elderly care costs in Yogyakarta tend to be high and pose a significant burden on families, especially when access to facilities and social support remains limited.
These two findings emphasize that population aging is not merely a demographic issue but also an economic and welfare concern. An integrated strategy is needed to ensure the sustainability of social security systems and affordable care services.
